Man injured in 'intense' Widecombe house fire

A man has been injured after an "intense" fire which caused extensive damage to a house.

At its height, the blaze in Widecombe, Devon, was tackled by 40 firefighters from six towns.

A neighbour in Lady Meadow Terrace raised the alarm at about 09:00 BST.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service said five fire engines and a command support unit were dispatched "due to the size of the property and intensity of the fire".

It was later brought under control.
