A police investigation into a boatyard fire which forced residents to flee their homes has been completed.

Nearly 20 firefighters tackled the fire on 7 December at boating firm Gallichan Marine in St Aubin, Jersey.

States of Jersey Police said they had passed the file to the Law Officers' Department for review.

Robert Gallichan, 63, who owned the company, was arrested on suspicion of arson two days after the fire. His body was found at his home on 30 December.

An inquest into his death on Wednesday found he had committed suicide.

The Law Officers' Department said it would advise on whether further action was needed.
