Law change means raw milk cheeses no longer illegal in Brazil

29 October 2013 Last updated at 09:11 GMT

A Brazilian law banning the sale of all raw milk - or unpasteurised - cheeses, unless they have been matured for at least two months, has recently been changed.

The law had been in place for more than half a century.

The change means that cheese-makers will no longer have to illegally smuggle traditionally-made products around the country for sale in specialist shops.

BBC Brasil's Camilla Costa reports.
