Texas executes Mexican national amid diplomatic row

The US state of Texas has executed Mexican national Edgar Tamayo Arias, convicted of killing a policeman in 1994.

The decision to carry out the sentence sparked a diplomatic outcry and protests from Mexico.

Texan officials maintain that their procedures met US Supreme Court guidance.
