Red Cross chief meets Syria's Assad

The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer has discussed Syria's aid crisis with President Assad.

The meeting came as the UN said more than 100,000 Syrians fled the country in August.

It is the highest monthly number of refugees since the conflict began in March 2011.
