Beirut blast: 'Damage is monstrous'

At least eight people have been killed in a huge car bomb explosion in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. Among them a powerful, anti-Syrian security chief, Wissam al Hassan

Several others have been wounded.

Ambulances rushed to the scene at Sassine Square.

There are no claims of responsibility but this comes at a time of heightened tension between Lebanese political factions on opposite sides of the Syria conflict.
