The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has said he intends to build a broad coalition following general election.

Mr Netanyahu fared worse than expected in the vote, losing about a quarter of his party's seats. He is relying on a coalition with Yair Lapid, the leader of the centrist party, Yesh Atid. Mr Lapid has traded a TV career for the complex world of Israeli politics.

In a speech to party supporters he pledged to bring the country together.
