Barack Obama touches down on first Israel visit as US president

Barack Obama has said Israel has "no greater friend" than the US, during his first visit to the country as president.

President Obama arrived in Israel aboard Air Force One and was welcomed at Ben Gurion airport by prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli President Shimon Peres.

On Thursday, he will travel to the West Bank city of Ramallah to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
