Syria video 'consistent with chemical attack'

21 August 2013 Last updated at 19:16 BST

Footage which Syrian opposition activists claim shows victims of a chemical weapon attack is consistent with such a weapon, according to a chemical weapons expert.

Hamish de Bretton-Gordon is a former commander of British Chemical and Biological counter terrorism forces and told BBC News that the images were very similar to previous incidents he has witnessed, although he could not verify the footage.

State-run news agency Sana said the claims were "baseless" and an attempt to distract UN weapons inspectors.
