Syria crisis: Senator McCain 'sceptical' on Russian plan

Republican Senator John McCain says he is "extremely sceptical" about a Russian proposal to make safe Syria's chemical weapons.

Mr McCain, who has been an advocate of military action in Syria, also expressed disappointment that US President Obama "didn't say more in support of the free Syrian army".

He said: "I think that any initiative that would prevent this military action is worth exploring but very briefly."
