President Obama: Iraq needs our help

US President Obama has said the Iraqi government needs additional help from the US to deal with insurgency in the country.

He said his team was looking at "all the options" to stop jihadists getting what he called a permanent foothold in Iraq.

He was speaking to reporters following a White House meeting with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
