Iraq crisis: Government forces battle Tikrit rebels

29 June 2014 Last updated at 21:34 BST

Iraqi government troops are continuing their offensive to retake the city of Tikrit from Isis militants - after they swept through large parts of northern Iraq on 11 June.

Footage aired on Iraqi state TV on Sunday apparently shows troops undertaking a flash operation, flying in and out of an area east of Tikrit to weed out insurgents.

The BBC's Paul Adams said a US special forces team on the ground is helping co-ordinate activities.
