Israel steps up plans to stop rocket attacks from Gaza

The Israeli government has announced plans to call up 40,000 reservists and it has started preparations for a possible ground invasion of the Palestinian territory of Gaza.

Military commanders say they have been instructed to hit the Palestinian group Hamas to try to stop rockets being fired from Gaza into southern Israel.
