Image caption 'Dr. Qasem' is a portrait of a medical doctor who, between 2011 and 2013, worked clandestinely to help the wounded in Homs.

A portrait of a man working at the height of political upheaval in rural Homs. For the last two years, Dr. Qasem Al-Zein took the responsibility of clandestinely treating the wounded: first in his city of Al-Qusair's field hospital, and then by co-ordinating medical assistance in improvised settings. In the midst of the ongoing turbulence, far from the mass media's focus on spectacular incidents, he supported the people on the streets by providing care they could not get elsewhere. By June 2013, he was forced to flee himself, but not without arranging for the wounded to also be helped.

Director: Amal Salloum is a Syrian citizen journalist who has made a number of tv reports about the ongoing revolution there.
