The body of an 11th victim has been found in a truck more than two days after a motorway pile-up in the US state of Florida.

Two other bodies were retrieved earlier from the Dodge truck that had collided with a tractor-trailer at Gainesville.

The pickup was so damaged investigators did not initially find the third body, none of which have been identified.

The crash involved a dozen cars and about six tractor-trailers before dawn on Sunday morning on Interstate 75.

Fog and heavy smoke from a brush fire obscured visibility on the highway, causing accidents in both directions.

At least 18 others were taken to hospital, and witnesses said debris from the incident was strewn for nearly a mile along the highway.

Authorities are still working to identify some of the victims. At least three women and one man are among the dead.

Experts have been looking for any bone fragments and teeth that could help name those who died in the pickup.
