Obama: America comes together after natural disasters

Help

US President Barack Obama has visited neighbourhoods in Colorado where wildfires have forced tens of thousands from their homes.

The visit comes after Mr Obama issued a disaster declaration, allowing federal funds to be used to combat the blaze.

Speaking with state and local officials beside him, Mr Obama said the response to the devastating fires was an example of "outstanding co-ordination and co-operation" between federal, state and local officials.

"When natural disasters like this hit, America comes together," he said.
