Colorado wildfire: Two dead as homes destroyed

The most destructive wildfire in the history of the US state of Colorado has killed two people and destroyed hundreds of homes.

The two victims were trying to flee their house in a densely wooded area when they died. Nearly forty thousand people have evacuated their properties.

Firefighters backed by the national guard and helicopters are tackling the fire, which is raging across a wide area on the outskirts of the city of Colorado Springs.

Alastair Leithead reports.
