US debt: Democrats will 'negotiate on anything'

US Senate majority leader Harry Reid has said that Democrats would "negotiate on anything" in a bid to stave off default, but that the government should be open.

Earlier, the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner, called for further talks with President Obama, giving him an opportunity for "a temporary increase in the debt ceiling."
