Openly gay men allowed to join Scouts in 2014

From January 1 2014, openly gay young men will be allowed to join America's Scouts.

The move follows a long and sometime impassioned debate in the Boy Scouts of America movement, culminating in a vote last May by the organisation's national council.

However, gay men will remain barred from leadership positions in the movement.

Russell Trott reports.
