15 February 2014 Last updated at 05:01 GMT

President Obama has announced a major aid package for California which is suffering its worst drought conditions for over a century.

More than $180m (£109m) will be made available to help both ranchers who have lost livestock and communities suffering extreme hardship because of the lack of rain to grow crops.

Peter Bowes reports from Los Angeles.
