Rescue workers in the US say they have now recovered 16 bodies at the scene of a landslide which devastated a small town in Washington State on Saturday.

They believe at least eight other victims have been located in the ruins of Oso near Seattle.

The emergency services are trying to recover their bodies.

Travis Hots, the Snohomish County Fire District 21 chief, said conditions were hampering the rescue efforts.
