Sriracha hot sauce firm faces 'public nuisance' vote

14 May 2014 Last updated at 00:04 BST

The city of Irwindale, California, is suing its most iconic resident, Huy Fong Foods, the maker of the popular Sriracha hot sauce, because some local residents say the smell burns their eyes and throats like tear gas.

The city is expected to vote on Wednesday whether to declare the factory a public nuisance. The case provoked a backlash on social media from fans worried about supplies of their favourite condiment.

The BBC's Regan Morris went to Irwindale to see what all the stink is about.
