San Diego wildfire: Thousands of homes evacuated

14 May 2014 Last updated at 10:17 BST

More than 20,000 homes have been evacuated in the suburbs of San Diego, after strong winds fuelled a nearby wildfire.

The blaze, which started on Tuesday morning, proved difficult for fire fighters to contain because of record temperatures and high winds in California.

Wendy Urquhart reports.
