US storm chaser 'struck by lightning on camera'

29 May 2014 Last updated at 17:47 BST

A US storm chaser says he has survived being struck by lightning, while inadvertently capturing the incident on camera.

Scott Sheppard was filming a storm from his car window in South Dakota, when he was apparently hit on the arm on Tuesday.

The footage shows sparks and debris flying, before smoke begins to rise.

Mr Sheppard says he escaped with minor injuries. He later took photographs of what he says is the damage the bolt caused to the road.
