President Barack Obama defends prisoner exchange

Barack Obama has been defending his decision to free five senior Taliban militants in exchange for a US soldier who was held captive for five years in Afghanistan.

Some Republicans have accused the president of setting a dangerous precedent with the prisoner swap for Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl amid claims that he was a deserter.
