Date of Birth

17 November.

Where were you born?

I was born in London. I don't actually know where exactly... just somewhere in London! I've lived in a small town near Bournemouth in Dorset for my whole life though.

Brothers/Sisters?

I've got two sisters, one older and one younger, and one brother.

Hobbies?

I love playing all sports and as much as I can. I like to stay active, and even though I like watching TV, I don't want to be sitting down in front of the TV all day long! I'm a big fan of video games too - football ones especially. It might sound a bit strange but I like taking the time to update the transfers and kits of the teams before each new season. I even commentate while I'm playing sometimes… I'd say this hobby of mine is probably as strange as stamp collecting!

Favourite colour?

Maroon - it's a dark red that's the main colour of the brilliant university I went to in Loughborough.

Favourite item of clothing?

My black denim jacket.

How would you spend your perfect Sunday afternoon?

I'd start with a full English breakfast for lunch/breakfast (I usually get up quite late), then later on play some five-a-side footy or cricket in the garden with my friends. In the evening I'd watch Match of the Day Two with Adrian Chiles, while eating a Chinese takeaway - just perfect (I do probably eat too much).

Favourite animal?

I've always liked monkeys - they're fun to watch.

Favourite film?

Definitely too many to mention, but I do love the Star Wars and James Bond films.

Favourite band?

I love 80s music, so a lot of those bands don't exist anymore! But U2 are still around and I'm a massive fan of Muse. Faithless are awesome live too.

What are you scared of?

Definitely birds! I really don't like anything about them… especially when they flap around your head!

Who/what makes you laugh?

I'm not afraid to say that I laugh at pretty much anything - my humour's really simple. I like watching Harry Hill, Ricky Gervais and Peter Kay. Cartoons make me laugh all day - The Simpsons is cool, but even the older ones like Roger Rabbit and Tom and Jerry are hilarious. But if I think something's funny, I'll find it really hard to keep it in.

What other jobs have you had?

I used to work as a pizza delivery boy and that meant I'd get cheaper pizza. I also worked as a security guard at Wimbledon and got to watch lots of tennis too.

Favourite actor/actress?

Sean Connery was my favourite James Bond and is still an excellent actor (Roger Moore came a close second). I really like watching Will Smith.

Favourite food?

Chinese food, Thai food and Indian food. My mum makes THE best lasagne as well - she might have to have a 'cook-off' with Ricky's dad!

Favourite holiday destination?

When I was 10 I saw a brochure for Mauritius and I've always wanted to go there. But at the moment, Sydney in Australia is my favourite place in the world.

What makes a good NR story?

It has to grab the attention of the audience. If they want to know more about something they've seen on Newsround then that's a good story. It also has to be important and relevant to you guys at home because you are who we report for - we want to make sure that you feel like you're part of the programme too.

Any advice to children who want to get into journalism?

Try and get involved as much as possible with student magazines, television and radio stations. Try and get lots of work experience but be ready to get told 'no' - it happens a lot. With lots of determination and enthusiasm you'll do well and don't forget to enjoy it.

Best advice ever given?

Always be yourself.

What makes you happy?

It's great being at home chilling with my family and friends on a lovely sunny day. Otherwise I love making good TV that people enjoy watching. And of course I always sleep better when my team Manchester United are winning their football matches or if England are winning in any sport.

Favourite gadget?

I haven't got many gadgets, but definitely need to buy myself an MP3 player - I'm sure as soon as I get one I won't let it out of my sight!

What's your biggest ambition?

I always wanted to play hockey at the London Olympics in 2012 when I was younger, but now I think my biggest ambition would be to report from the games live for TV.
