England put eight past San Marino

Wayne Rooney scores against San Marino

England scored eight goals to record their biggest win in over 25 years - beating San Marino 8-0 in their World Cup qualifier.

Alessandro Della Valle's early own goal got England on their way before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jermain Defoe, Ashley Young and Frank Lampard added more before halftime.

Wayne Rooney, substitute Daniel Sturridge and another from Defoe completed the thrashing before the ref blew the whistle.

England now head to Podgorica for Tuesday's more testing World Cup qualifier against group leaders Montenegro.
