BBC World News showcases India with TV series Travel India and new commercial presentations

BBC World News presents Travel India, a new series looking at myriads of unexplored facets of India. The six-part travel series, to be broadcast on BBC World News globally from October, takes audiences on a journey to India’s spiritual sites, places of scenic beauty, urban business centres and underdeveloped rural areas. Presented by India’s popular cricketer presenter, Harsha Bhogle, the series showcases India today.

The BBC World News Creative Solutions team is also producing a series of commercial presentations for the Indian Ministry of Tourism featuring ‘colours of India’ to be broadcast on the channel across Europe, Asia-Pacific, South Asia, the Middle East and Australia, and also to be shown around BBC World News programmes on United Airlines and US Airways.

Jonathan Howlett, Director Advertising Sales, BBC Worldwide says: “Travel India is a fantastic series which gives our ‘internationalist’ audiences across the globe, an insight into the parts of India not usually covered by travel programmes.”

Ms. Leena Nandan, Joint Secretary of the Indian Ministry of Tourism, says: "We are extremely pleased that the multi-hued dimensions of India will be seen on BBC World News, a medium that has the credibility and reach to influential travellers across the world.”

The BBC continues to be the preferred choice for international travellers with over 1.8 million (around 50%) frequent international travellers* in Europe watching BBC World News every month (Source: Summer 2008 EMS survey).

*more than 6 international trips per year
