BBC Worldwide today announced that a selection of programming will now be available for purchase and download from the iTunes Store in France.
Starting today on iTunes, customers can purchase single episodes and complete series of programmes such as Extras, The Lost World, Torchwood series 1 and 2, Pride and Prejudice and The Planets.
Some programmes on offer, such as the second series of Torchwood, are brand new to French audiences while other content will be available on a catch up basis in the future.
BBC Worldwide will make the majority of content available in both French and English.
iTunes will also showcase some of the best of the BBC's world famous Natural History Unit including Galapagos and Wild South America.
The BBC was the first British broadcaster to offer television programmes on iTunes in the UK and is now the first to offer the same service to the iTunes Store in France.
French audiences will now be able to view their favourite BBC programming via iTunes, from Euro 1.99 per episode, on a Mac or PC, iPod with video, iPhone or widescreen TV with Apple TV.
Tim Muff, Managing Director of BBC Worldwide France, said: "iTunes customers in France can now enjoy a range of BBC programming, from drama through comedy to factual and Natural History.
"This move reflects the changing nature of broadcasting and viewers' expectations, with consumers wanting to watch their favourite programmes on their own terms."
Making BBC programming available on the iTunes Store is key to BBC Worldwide's stated objective to secure the broadest possible distribution for its huge range of television content.
