Asad Ahmad joined BBC London in May 2002 as a presenter and reporter.
In 2006, Asad won the Royal Television Society Reporter Of The Year award for London.
He previously presented Newsnight Scotland from its
launch in 1999 and spent time as the BBC's Scotland Correspondent
(2001) reporting for BBC Breakfast, the One, Six and Ten O'Clock
TV news and BBC Radio 4.
This included coverage of the riots in
the North of England and the Foot and Mouth outbreak.
Asad spent
two years presenting the news round-up on BBC Breakfast
from 2000, sharing the role with Moira Stuart.
He also regularly
appeared behind the desk for BBC News 24 and Breakfast With Frost.
In
his role at BBC London, Asad can be seen presenting not only
from the studio, but also from around the capital and around the
world - most notably in Singapore as London won the 2012 Olympics
in July 2005.
The programme went on to win
a Royal Television Society Award for its coverage of the event.
Asad Ahmad has been
shortlisted for several other awards across radio and television,
winning recognition for being part of successful programmes
across the UK.
Asad joined the BBC Regional News Trainee Scheme in
1996 and went on to report and get his first presenting role at
BBC Birmingham a year later.
He then moved to BBC Scotland presenting
and reporting for Reporting Scotland, as well as presenting
Newsdrive on BBC Radio Scotland.
Asad has presented a variety of programmes
for the BBC including East (BBC TWO, 1998), Late Flyte
(BBC CHOICE, 2000), Newsline Scotland (BBC CHOICE, 2000), Asian
Music (BBC TWO, 2001) and Inside Out - Earthquake Special (BBC
ONE, 2005).
Asad was born
in London in 1969 and has lived in London for much of his life.
He studied Law in Bristol and is patron of the charity Working
With Words.
Asad loves dodging through London's traffic on his
scooter and has a passion for cars... although he is trying hard
to get in touch with his environmentally friendly side!
