Can I download Radio 4 programmes to my mp3 player?
A number of Radio 4 programmes are available in mp3 format. You can download the files individually or use 'podcasting' software to subscribe and receive each edition of a programme automatically. The files are available for 7 days after the broadcast.
See the full list of downloadable programmes on our Download/Podcasting page, where you will also find sources of technical information. For a variety of reasons, including audio rights, we cannot currently offer any other programmes.
How long do recordings stay on the website?
Most programmes are only available for seven days after transmission before being removed or replaced by the audio of the following week's programme. This limit applies to all dramas, readings and comedy programmes. Some factual broadcasts, eg Today, Woman's Hour and most science programmes are available for longer periods.
How can I find a programme on the Radio 4 website?
We now provide information on all Radio 4 programmes.
If you know the title of the programme you can search for details using the A to Z or Listen Again index pages, or the genre homepages (eg Arts or Science).
If you don't know the title, but know when it was broadcast, you can find it via the Radio 4 Schedule pages. You can also search for titles or topics by using the search box in the grey BBC navigation bar.
If you simply want to listen again, you will find programmes from the last seven days listed on the Radio 4 page of the BBC iPlayer.
Do you offer CDs or transcripts of Radio 4 programmes?
BBC Worldwide publish BBC programmes, books and related items. The decisions about whether to release material for sale are made by BBC Worldwide on the basis of projected sales. See the BBC Shop for more information.
Transcripts are only available for a few Radio 4 programmes: see the pages for Any Questions, Analysis, Case Notes, Check Up and In Touch.
Why can't I listen again to Desert Island Discs?
For copyright reasons Desert Island Discs is not currently available as a 'listen again' item.
Why don't you offer audio in other formats eg Windows Media?
It is a service we are keen to offer to listeners, and it is something which the BBC has been considering. The new digital stations, including BBC 7 already offer audio in Windows Media Player as well as RealOne Player. However, for the immediate future, Radio 4 audio is only available using RealOne.

Why can't I listen again as soon as a programme finishes?
Programmes are normally available via 'listen again' approximately 30 minutes after the end of transmission. The exact period depends on the length of the programme and the speed of the distribution system.
How do I get tickets for Radio 4 shows?
Find out what tickets are available and how to apply by visiting BBC Audience Services.
Not all tickets, particularly for shows outside London, are handled by BBC Audience Services. For details of other tickets, check Radio Times and local press.
How can I comment on Radio 4 programmes?
Feedback (Friday 13:30-14:00; Sunday 20:00-20:30) is the BBC Network Radio listeners' letters programme, produced for Radio 4 by an independent production company, presented by Roger Bolton. Feedback's content is entirely directed by the telephone calls, letters, emails and faxes it receives from listeners. Find out how to contact the programme on the Feedback website.
