Anthony Joshua to go for first title against Denis Bakhtov

Anthony Joshua will fight for the second time in a month as he goes for his first title against Denis Bakhtov on 11 October at the O2 in London.

The 24-year-old heavyweight, who took gold at the 2012 Olympics, will be up against the Russian for the WBC International Heavyweight title.

It comes only 28 days after facing German Konstantin Airich in Manchester.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: "I believe that the time is right for Anthony to step up and fight for his first title."

The experienced Bakhtov, 34, recently beat Airich in eight rounds.

"Anthony has an important clash with Airich in Manchester in September, and when he comes through that, he will be ready to face Bakhtov in what promises to be a cracking contest," added Hearn.

Joshua - who has won his first seven professional bouts by knockout - will fight Airich on the undercard of Scott Quigg's WBA super-bantamweight title defence in Manchester on September 13.
