Northamptonshire all-rounder Steven Crook has said Thursday's top-of-the-table County Championship clash against Lancashire will be like a cup final.
Northants are 34 points clear of their second-placed hosts in Division Two.
"Every game is big for us now, every game is like a final," 30-year-old Australian Crook, a former Lancashire player, told
BBC Radio Northampton.
"If we can get a result up there it would be fantastic and put us in a really good position."
Crook, who has taken 29 wickets this season and hit four half-centuries, has suggested Northants could use two spinners at Old Trafford, with Graham White coming into the attack alongside James Middlebrook.
"I guess you expect it will turn a little bit up there. We've got to be prepared for that and Graham is a class player," said Crook, who made his first-class debut while at Lancashire in 2003.
"If he comes into the team hopefully he will do a really good job for us."
