Match scorecard

Yorkshire's hopes of building a first-innings lead against Nottinghamshire were frustrated by the weather on the second day at Headingley.

Heavy rain set in after only 9.3 overs of play, with the home side adding 24 runs to their overnight 52-2.

Jack Leaning was unbeaten on 35, with skipper Andrew Gale on 23, when the players were forced off the field.

And umpires Martin Saggers and Alex Wharf eventually called things off for the day after a 15:40 BST inspection.

Notts were bowled out for 205 on the opening day, with seamers Tim Bresnan and Jack Brooks taking three wickets each.

BBC Radio Nottingham's Dave Bracegirdle:

"The rain has certainly been following Nottinghamshire around in recent weeks, with bad weather causing interruptions in each of the last five matches.

"Cloudy overhead conditions gave Peter Siddle and Andre Adams the perfect opportunity to make some inroads in what little play was possible, but despite repeatedly beating the bat, they were unable to break the third-wicket partnership.

"The tempo will now have to be increased on day three if either side are to be in a position to force a positive result."
