The League Two fixture between Southend United and Plymouth Argyle has been postponed because of a frozen pitch at Roots Hall.

The decision was made following an inspection on Friday morning (10:30 GMT).

No new date has been set for the rearranged fixture.

Southend chief executive Steve Kavanagh said: "Unfortunately the weather has meant the pitch has become frozen and it was deemed dangerous to play on."

He added: "Of course we also had to take into consideration the long journey that Plymouth Argyle would have to make."

"The weather is set to continue in the same vein today and on Saturday so the decision had to be made to postpone the game.

"We will begin work on finding a date to re-arrange the game and will update you as soon as we know."
