As it happened

  1. 2205:

So it's au revoir from Ligue 1, PSG keeper Ronan Le Crom (bad luck mate) and me.

    Thanks for reading.

  2. 2200:
    Ligue 1 French league

Lyon's 2-0 win over Rennes means that they have secured the third Champions League spot in Ligue 1. They will enter the competition at the third qualifying round.

Nice take fourth spot and a Europa League place with a 2-0 victory at Ajaccio.

They win a Europa League place, with Lille missing out following their draw with Saint Etienne, who qualify for Europe thanks to their cup success.

At the other end, Troyes' 2-1 defeat at Valenciennes means they slip down a league along with Nancy and Brest.

  3. 2155:
    Ligue 1 French leagueRESULTS

    Ajaccio 0-2 Nice

    Bastia 0-0 Sochaux

    Bordeaux 2-1 Evian Thonon Gaillard

    Brest 0-2 Nancy

    Lille 1-1 Saint-Etienne

    Lorient 1-3 Paris S.G.

    Lyon 2-0 Rennes

    Marseille 0-0 Reims

    Toulouse 2-0 Montpellier

    Valenciennes 2-1 Troyes

  4. 2153:
    Ligue 1 French leagueFULL-TIME

Paris St Germain's season comes to a close with a 3-1 victory at Lorient. It turned out to be quite a comical ending with Ronan Le Crom's cameo, but David Beckham bows out with a win and another trophy and Zlatan Ibrahimovic finishes with a brace and another record. Everyone's happy, apart from Ronan.

  5. 2151:
    Ligue 1 French leagueTROYES TURMOIL

Troyes have conceded a late goal Valenciennes - so they are now 2-1 behind. As it stands, Troyes are down.

  6. 2149:
    Ligue 1 French league

This gets better - Arnaud Le Lan, who scored Lorient's penalty had not scored since 21 October 2001, which was 4,235 days ago.

  7. 2147:
    Ligue 1 French leagueRED CARD

You cannot script this. Goalkeeper Ronan Le Crom, who made his PSG debut at the age of 38 when he came on as substitute, has been sent off.

The veteran pulled down Lamine Gassama in the area, conceded a penalty and was shown red. Mamadou Sakho went in goal but fails to save the spot-kick. It's PSAG 3-1 Lorient. What a story!

  8. 2146:
La Liga Spanish leagueMANUEL PELLEGRINI UPDATE

Malaga-based Spanish journlists Enrique Ortiz and Ismael Touat have been tweeting the following quotes from Manuel Pellegrini re Manchester City:

"It's an option". "I am fortunate to have some very good options and Manchester City is one of them."

  9. 2137:
    Ligue 1 French league

Now then. As it stands, St Etienne will finish fifth, but they have already secured a Europa League spot. With Nice winning against Ajaccio, they will finish fourth and take the Europa League spot. Comprenez vous?

Darren Tulett: Huge ovation from everyone present at Lorient as the very popular former Lyon, Monaco, Barca, PSG man Ludovic Giuly exits his final match.

  11. 2134:
    Ligue 1 French leagueRELEGATION BATTLE

Troyes's hugely inferior goal difference could be there undoing today. They're drawing 1-1 with Valenciennes but another goal fro them could make things interesting as Ajaccio and Evian above them are losing. That would leave all three teams level on 40 points but with Troyes trailing on goal difference. A cruel way to go down should it happen.

  12. 2130:
    Ligue 1 French league

It looks like the third Champions League spot will go to Lyon, who are now 2-0 up against Rennes. Fourth-placed St Etienne, who began the day two points behind on 62 are 1-1 at Lille.

  13. 2126:
Ligue 1 French leagueVETERAN DEBUT ALERT!

Goalkeeper Ronan Le Crom makes his PSG debut at the grand old age of 38 - against Lorient, where he was born. That makes him the oldest player to play in the league this season. Just beating his smiling team-mate on the bench.

  14. 2124:
    Ligue 1 French league

Kevin Gameiro scores two goals in as many minutes to put PSG's final game of the season, against Lorient, to bed. David Beckham smiles from the sidelines as he departs with another victory.

    David Beckham
  15. 2121:

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley will miss England's forthcoming friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil because of a calf injury.

  16. 2116:

Apparently, Bayern Munich's departing coach Jupp Heynckes would be interested in returning to Real Madrid as coach.

His agent is quoted to have said on Spanish radio: "It is (Real president) Florentino Perez's decision," Enrique Reyes said. "If Florentino calls us we would accept the offer."

  17. 2113:
    Ligue 1 French league

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gets his 30th league goal of the season and equals Jean-Pierre Papin's mark set in 1989-90. Paris St Germain lead Lorient 1-0 midway into the second half. Not a bad return for the season for the Swede who this week refused to rule out a move to Manchester City.

  18. 2102:
    La Liga Spanish leaguePERMUTATIONS

Breathe in Chowdhury. Right, fourth-place Valencia go into the last round of fixtures two points ahead of Real Sociedad. Sociedad need to defeat Deportivo and hope Valencia are beaten at Sevilla to reclaim the fourth Champions League place.

Real Betis have secured a spot in the Europa League following a 4-0 win over Real Zaragoza.

The relegation battle will go down to the final weekend with Deportivo, Celta Vigo, Real Zaragoza and Real Mallorca all facing tense battles to avoid the drop.

    Ligue 1 French leaguePERMUTATIONS

European football expert Andy Brassell: "As it stands, Lyon heading to CL, Lille to EL, & Troyes going down, though latter lead at Valenciennes. To avoid going down, Troyes need to win & for Sochaux to lose at Bastia; and in that one, Bastia had Choplin header dubiously chalked off."

La Liga Spanish leagueFULL-TIME- Real Sociedad 3-3 Real Madrid
  23. 2049:
La Liga Spanish leagueGOAL- Real Sociedad 3-3 Real Madrid - Xabi Prieto (90+3 mins)

What a truly sensationally sensational end to the game. A cross is delivered from the right which Imanol Agirretxe heads back towards goal where team-mate Xabi Prieto is. The forward throws himself at the ball and bundles it into the net along with Madrid keeper Diego Lopez. Crazy.

  24. 2046:
La Liga Spanish leagueDISALLOWED GOAL- Real Sociedad 2-3 Real Madrid

Real Sociedad twice go close. First, Antoine Griezmann has a goal ruled out for offside and then Imanol Agirretxe inexplicably heads wide from six yards. We are deep into stoppage time.

  25. 2048:
La Liga Spanish leagueFULL-TIME- Espanyol 0-2 Barcelona

Barcelona remain well on course for the 100-point total for the season. Following today's victory, another at home to Malaga will see them reach the mark. They were rarely troubled by their Catalan rivals Espanyol today.

  26. 2044:
La Liga Spanish leagueGREAT SAVE!- Real Sociedad 2-3 Real Madrid

What another extraordinary save from Real Madrid's Diego Lopez - this time he tips over Xabi Prieto's flying header. Valencia are still leading against Granada which means they only need a point at Sevilla to secure the fourth Champions League spot.

  27. 2043:
La Liga Spanish leagueGOAL- Espanyol 0-2 Barcelona - Pedro (86 mins)

Xavi and Pedro combine beautifully before the latter clinically slots in Barcelona's second. Game over.

  28. 2038:
La Liga Spanish leagueRED CARD - Espanyol's Wakaso Mubarak- Espanyol 0-1 Barcelona

Wakaso Mubarak fancies getting in the bath first here, two yellow cards in a minute does the job for him. A foul from the Ghanaian brings his first yellow and his reaction to it earns him his second.

  29. 2036:
La Liga Spanish leagueGOAL- Real Sociedad 2-3 Real Madrid - Sami Khedira

Well, that Sociedad joy was short-lived. Sami Khedira plays a brilliant one-two with fellow German Mesut Ozil before dinking the ball into the net from six yards.

  30. 2034:
    Ligue 1 French league

Big goal for Lyon. Tottenham target Lisandro Lopez puts his side 1-0 up from the spot against Rennes. If Lyon can hold on to that lead they'll clinch third spot, and that coveted Champions League place.

  31. 2033:
La Liga Spanish leagueGOAL- Real Sociedad 2-2 Real Madrid - Antoine Griezmann (77 mins)

Finally. Inigo Martinez delivers a sumptuous ball from the right which Antoine Griezmann converts past Diego Lopez from close range.

  32. 2033:
CLOSE!- Real Sociedad 1-2 Real Madrid

Sociedad's Diego Ifran smacks in a low free-kick that Diego Lopez punches away but only to Imanol Agirretxe, standing four yards out, who is unable to direct his instinctive effort on target. They are getting closer.

  33. 2032:
La Liga Spanish leagueSUBSTITUTION- Espanyol 0-1 Barcelona

Twenty minutes to go and Espanyol make their first change. Simao comes on for Victor Sanchez.

  34. 2031:
La Liga Spanish leagueReal Sociedad 1-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is writhing around on the turf after a firm clip to the heel. He hobbles off to get treatment - he seems fine.

  35. 2029:
La Liga Spanish leagueReal Sociedad 1-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain goes on a mazy run but ruins his efforts with a woeful shot from 18 yards.

  36. 2026:
La Liga Spanish leagueCLOSE!- Real Sociedad 1-2 Real Madrid

Oh so close for Sociedad. Antoine Griezmann is fed in, runs into the area, rounds Diego Lopez but fires his shot into the side-netting.

Real Madrid substitution. Brazilian Kaka comes off and is replaced by Argentine Angel Di Maria

  39. 2020:
La Liga Spanish leagueGOAL- Real Sociedad 1-2 Real Madrid - Xabi Prieto (64 mins)

Lovely penalty from Xabi Prieto. He opens his body up and plants it into the bottom right-hand corner giving Diego Lopes no chance.

  40. 2019:
La Liga Spanish leaguePENALTY TO REAL SOCIEDAD- Real Sociedad 0-2 Real Madrid

Sami Khedira is penalised for handball after the ball strikes his hand. Easy decision.

  41. 2019:
    La Liga Spanish league

Worse news for Real Sociedad - Valencia have taken the lead against Granada thanks to Roberto Soldado's goal. As things they will be fourth and in the final Champions League spot, three points ahead with one game remaining.

  42. 2013:
La Liga Spanish leagueGOAL- Real Sociedad 0-2 Real Madrid - Jose Callejon (57 mins)

What a bitter blow to Sociedad's Champions League hopes. Kaka curls a mid-height cross from the left into the six-yard area for Jose Callejon to sidefoot in. It's the winger's second league goal of the season.

  43. 2013:
La Liga Spanish leagueWHAT A MISS- Espanyol 0-1 Barcelona

Chance for David Villa. The striker, with time and space curls a shot just wide when he should be putting the game to bed.

    David Villa
  44. 2010:
La Liga Spanish leagueALMOST AN OWN GOAL- Real Sociedad 0-1 Real Madrid

Inigo Martinez almost heads into his own net from a Real Madrid ball into the area. Sociedad were lucky.

  45. 2010:
La Liga Spanish leagueTOILET ROLLS STOP PLAY- Espanyol 0-1 Barcelona

Only a momentarily break for Barca and Espanyol as Victor Valdes tends to his penalty area after some Espanyol supporters had thrown some toilet rolls on to the pitch. That is not necessarily an indication of the quality of the match.

  46. 2008:
La Liga Spanish leagueReal Sociedad 0-1 Real Madrid

Diego Lopez makes another top-drawer save - actually, scratch that, it's the drawer above top drawer. This time Imanol Agirretxe lashes in a half-volley with swerve from 10 yards that the Madrid keeper dives low - faster than a speeding bullet - to push away.

Mike Curry: Regardless of results, surely this season will be remembered for the awful anorak Mourinho has chosen to wear all year.

  48. 2004:

  51. 1959:
Portugal Cup finalBenfica 1-2 Vitoria Guimaraes FT

From joy to heartache. "Once, twice, three times a loser....." as someone might not have sung.

"I don't know what happened in the last 10 minutes," said Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic. "We surely deserved to win something this season."

  52. 1952:
Coppa Italia finalRoma 0-1 Lazio FT

Lazio goalscorer Senad Lulic: "This victory won't be forgotten. I found myself there in the right moment. I dedicate this goal to my wife, who is pregnant.''

  53. 1949:
    Ligue 1 French league
    Joey Barton

The final round of fixtures in Ligue 1 begins at 2000 BST. QPR's Joey Barton will play the final match of his loan spell for Marseille - who are already guaranteed second place and an automatic Champions League spot - against Reims.

Third spot, and a place the Champions League third qualifying round, is still up from grabs with Lyon currently in that berth, two points ahead of St Etienne. A win at home to Rennes would secure third.

If they draw, a win for St Etienne will see them take third because of their superior goal difference.

At the other end of the table, Troyes are in the final relegation spot, three points behind Sochaux, Ajaccio and Evian going into the final weekend.

Could we have a French winner of the Champions League in the next two to three years if league champions PSG and new-rich Monaco continue to spend the GDP of a small country on players?

Imanol Agirretxe in the thick of things again. This time the number nine is denied an almost certain goal by his team-mate Antoine Griezmann who changes the trajectory of a ball that is played in across the face of goal. With Sociedad losing and Valencia level against Granada, it means Valencia are currently in the fourth Champions League spot.

  59. 1941:
La Liga Spanish leagueReal Sociedad 0-1 Real Madrid

Real Sociedad put Madrid under further pressure - this time Imanol Agirretxe finds himself free inside the area but fails to get good contact on his shot.

  61. 1937:
La Liga Spanish leagueHITS THE WOODWORK- Espanyol 0-1 Barcelona

Almost a goal made in north London for Barca here. Alex Song chips a perfectly weighted pass to former Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fabregas and his side-footed effort strikes the post. Lovely move from Barca but Fabregas really should have buried that.

  62. 1934:

Europa League-chasing Real Betis are now 2-0 up against Zaragoza.

  69. 1918:
La Liga Spanish leagueGOAL- Espanyol 0-1 Barcelona - Alexis Sanchez (14 mins)

A brilliant move from Alexis Sanchez sees him beat two men on the left wing, exchange passes with David Villa taking the return ball down on his chest before curling into bottom corner. Who needs Neymar?

  70. 1913:
La LigaReal Sociedad 0-1 Real Madrid

Real Sociedad need to defeat Real Madrid to guarantee fourth and qualification for the Champions League. Valencia, in fifth and also on 62 points but with a seven-goal inferior goal difference, are playing Granada.

Ben Shave: Two weeks ago they were chasing a treble. Now, they end the season with nothing. Agonising for the Águias.

Shohidur Rahman: Has there ever been a worse end to the season than Benfica's? Lost the league in penultimate game, lost EL final, and now this.

  77. 1858:

  82. 1847:
    Roma 0-1 Lazio

  90. 1828:
    CLOSE!- Roma 0-0 Lazio

Action at both ends. First, Lazio's Senad Lulic volleys a long ball across goal that Miroslav Klose only just fails to connect with and straight up the other end Francesco Totti drives in a low shot that Federico Marchetti saves, before the keeper prevents a Destro drive from bursting the net.

  91. 1823:

Ahh, Lazio keeper Federico Marchetti is the reason for the hold-up. He's on the pitch with the rest of them. We have kick-off.

  104. 1804:
    Roma 0-0 Lazio

Back to Rome, Italy for the second-half of the Coppa Italia final. Who will come away with the famous trophy - Roma or Lazio? Bit of a delay to the second half, I'll find out why.

  105. 1754:
Portugal Cup finalGOAL- Benfica 1-0 Vitoria Guimaraes (Gaitan)

There's the good fortune Benfica have been looking for. Guimaraes try to clear through Brazilian defender Kanu but instead the ball goes in off Nicolas Gaitan to hand giants Benfica the lead.

  106. 1754:
Portugal Cup finalBenfica 0-0 Vitoria Guimaraes

The final of biggest knockout tournament in Portugal is under way and there are no goals yet between Benfica and Vitoria Guimaraes. Benfica have won the prestigious Portugal Cup a record 24 times already but have not reached the final since 2003.

Their past 10 days have not proved so fruitful, for the Eagles. Since losing the league title to Porto they suffered a dramatic late defeat by Chelsea in the Europa League final. They're due a slice of good fortune you feel.

  107. 1753:

So what did you make of that half of football? Plenty of bookings, but only really two clear-cut chances courtesy of headers from Klose and Destro.

  108. 1750:
    HALF-TIME- Roma 0-0 Lazio
  109. 1747:
    Roma 0-0 Lazio

Roma's Mattia Destro heads over the bar from four yards from Marquinho's delightful cross from the right. Oh so close for the Giallorossi.

  110. 1743:
    Roma 0-0 Lazio

A victory for Roma would give them a record 10th Coppa Italia win. They are currently tied on nine with Juventus.

  111. 1741:
    YELLOW CARD- Roma 0-0 Lazio

Miroslav Klose goes into the book for a very late challenge on Roma defender Nicolas Burdisso. I predict this game will not finish 11 v 11.

  112. 1735:
    GREAT SAVE!- Roma 0-0 Lazio

Roma's Romanian keeper Bogdan Lobont makes a brilliant point-blank save to stop Miroslav Klose's header from flying in. Lobont's nickname is "Pisica" because his reflexes are similar to that of a cat. Nice.

Paolo Bandini: "Coppa Italia final has been described as 'most important Rome derby ever'. Showing on field. Two nervous teams out there."

  114. 1734:
    Roma 0-0 Lazio

Action-wise, it's a little bit quiet in Rome. A clutch of yellow cards have been brandished - with Lazio's Brazilian playmaker Hernanes the latest. It might just be a single goal that decides this contest.

  115. 1732:
    Roma 0-0 Lazio

We had singer Psy performing his global hit Gangnam Style before kick-off. According to Associated Press the South Korean was booed by a section of the crowd at the Stadio Olimpico.

  116. 1730:

Karel Deprez: "The Italian Cup Final... I'm already sad to be missing this! What a monument that Totti lad is! Such vigour, such a pro. Such a comeback too, from Totti! At his age! Monumental. Klose is well worth mentioning too, while going on about monuments. "

Andrew Priestley: "Roma and Lazio players met with The Pope on Wednesday in a peace initiative. Not sure how much good it's going to do mind you!"

    Pope meets Lazio players
  118. 1726:
    Roma 0-0 Lazio

Roma's veteran talisman, Francesco Totti, blazes a shot over the bar. By the way, this is the first time the Rome rivals have met in the Coppa Italia final.

  119. 1721:

No European football Sunday would be complete without your thoughts. What do you think about Neymar joining Barcelona? Have Real Madrid been negatively affected by the management of Jose Mourinho? Will Monaco give PSG a run for their money (no pun intended) next season? Is Dan Petrescu a hot-head?

  120. 1721:
    CLOSE!- Roma 0-0 Lazio

Erik Lamela tests Federico Marchetti in the Lazio goal with a low drive from 20 yards. Well held by the Italian keeper.

  121. 1719:

  122. 1717:
    Belgian Pro League
    Liege v Gent

In Belgium, Gent took a 1-0 lead over Standard Liege into their Europa League play-off second leg. It's fair to say the second leg was a far less tight encounter with Standard running out 7-0 winners - a 7-1 aggregate win. Now that's what I call a turnaround.

  123. 1714:
    YELLOW CARD- Roma 0-0 Lazio

There have already been two yellow cards handed to a player from each side with Roma's Federico Balzaretti and Lazio's Cristian Ledesma going into the book.

  124. 1713:
    Russian Premier League

Before we look ahead to the rest of Sunday's live matches, let's look back at what has already happened today - starting with the final round of Russian league games.

It was a bad day for Dynamo Moscow who missed out on a place in the Europa League after being held to a 0-0 home draw by Volga Nizhny Novgorod.

Ex-Chelsea favourite and Dynamo coach, Dan Petrescu, was sent off in the first half after he confronted the referee on the pitch. That was his third red card in the last 12 months. I don't remember him being that fiery during his playing days.

Rubin Kazan beat FK Krasnodar 2-0 to take sixth spot and a final Europa League spot, while Kuban Krasnodar qualified for Europe for the first time with a surprise 1-0 win over Anzhi Makhachkala.

Rostov will face a relegation play-off against Krylya Sovietov Samara.

  125. 1707:
    KICK-OFF- Roma 0-0 Lazio

We are under way in the final of the Coppa Italia.

  126. 1705:
    Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes

What a superb Champions League final Germany's Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund served up on Saturday. The face of Bayern's Jupp Heynckes, aka Osram, lit up like a... well... a light bulb as he flaunted the trophy in front of the fans at a packed and colourful Wembley. He then danced the night away at the Bayern party in London.

The 68-year-old will decide whether to retire from management or not after next Saturday's DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart. I hope he carries on.

Before that, there is another major European title to be won with fierce city rivals Roma and Lazio up against each other in Sunday's Coppa Italia - competition first held in 1922 P.I (Pre-Internet).

It promises to be feisty affair on the pitch and, fingers-crossed, hopefully not feisty one off the pitch, as is feared.

We will also bring you updates from the penultimate round of matches in La Liga with Espanyol hosting local big brother Barcelona and Real Madrid against Real Sociedad.

We will also keep you up to date with news from the final round of games in Ligue 1, with European and relegation places unresolved.
