Republic of Ireland vacancy: Martin O'Neill keen to manage again
Former Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill says he does not want to end his managerial career with the low of being sacked mid-season by the Black Cats.
O'Neill is favourite to fill the vacant Republic of Ireland manager's post following Giovanni Trapattoni's departure by mutual consent, after Brian McDermott and Chris Hughton ruled themselves out of contention for the role.
However, Northern Ireland-born O'Neill stresses he has yet to be contacted by the Football Association of Ireland.
