Nuneaton earned a vital victory over lowly Aldershot as they looked to maintain their play-off chase.

The hosts made the breakthrough in the 38th minute when Andy Brown found the top corner from 20 yards out.

Nuneaton keeper James Belshaw saved well from Bradley Bubb before Louis Moult doubled their lead from Brown's knock down.

Late on Tristan Plummer fired home from inside the box but Aldershot failed to find an equaliser.

Aldershot Town boss Andy Scott told BBC Surrey:

Post-match: Aldershot manager Andy Scott

"It was a nothing game in the first half, All of a sudden two long balls and you're two-nil down at half-time.

"We weren't good enough all over the pitch and defensively we got dominated by their front two. They did the basiscs a lot better than us/

"Unfortunately, it's becoming a bit a regular occurrence against part-time sides and we are seeing those side doing well in this league.

"The fans who travelled up deserved better and we have got to make sure that we give them value for money. Did we deserve a point, probably not."
