Joe Kinnear's Newcastle resignation is no surprise to Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle legend Alan Shearer says he is "not surprised" by Joe Kinnear's resignation from the club, after less than eight months in the role.
Shearer, who scored a record 206 goals for Newcastle, tells BBC's Match of the Day 2 that Kinnear was a "strange appointment" in the first place, adding that "maybe him resigning is a way of saying he didn't do his job, but I'm not sure what his job was anyway."
The Magpies failed to sign a player on a permanent deal during Kinnear's spell at the club.
