Romana Graham: Exeter Chiefs sign New Zealand-born lock
Exeter Chiefs have signed 6ft 7in Maori All Blacks lock Romana Graham ahead of the new Premiership season.
The 27-year-old has played Super 15 rugby for New Zealand's Chiefs for the last five years and also appeared for provincial side Waikato.
Graham is Exeter's seventh new signing and watched Saturday's 51-7 pre-season friendly win over Bristol.
“I've watched some highlights of games and there are some big boys over here.”
"Coming over here is a whole new challenge, but I think it will be good for my game," he said.
Graham expects it will take time to adjust to a different style of rugby in the northern hemisphere.
"I've watched some highlights of games and there are some big boys over here," he added.
"It's more forward orientated for sure, but I'm not going to complain about that too much, I just want to get stuck into the action."
The Chiefs ran in eight tries in a 51-7 pre-season friendly win against Bristol at Sandy Park on Saturday, but head coach Rob Baxter felt there was still plenty of room for improvement.
"There were times when we looked quite sublime attacking-wise, but that said we still have some major work-ons to get through in these next couple of weeks," he said.
"Our line-out wasn't great at any stage, our scrum was good for most of the game, but we still had a couple of dodgy ones that you wouldn't be able to afford in the Premiership."
