Northampton Saints: Ben Foden among five to sign new deals
England full-back Ben Foden is among five Northampton Saints backs to sign new deals with the Premiership club.
Foden, 28, in his sixth season at Franklin's Gardens, has 34 caps but is currently out with a knee injury.
“It is important that we have a group of quality players who understand our culture and what we are trying to achieve”
Scrum-half Lee Dickson, also capped by England, centre Luther Burrell and wingers Ken Pisi and Jamie Elliott have also extended their contracts.
"Retaining all of them was one of our main priorities," said a delighted Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder.
"It is important that we have a group of quality players who understand our culture and what we are trying to achieve. Ben, Lee, Luther, Ken and Jamie all fit into that category."
Dickson, 28, also joined the Saints in 2008 and passed the 150 appearance mark for the club earlier this season.
He has gone on to make 12 appearances for England, including starting all three of the 2013 Autumn internationals.
Burrell, 26, joined the Saints from Sale Sharks in the summer of 2012.
His form towards the end of last season saw him earn a call-up to England's summer tour of Argentina, with an additional selection into England's Elite Player Squad for the Autumn internationals.
Samoa international Pisi, 24, also added to his tally of international caps during the recent Autumn internationals and is another player to be in his second season at Franklin's Gardens.
A product of the Saints academy system, Elliott's 11 tries in 2012-13 ensured the 21-year-old finished as the club's leading try scorer and young player of the season.
