Volleyball stalwart Nicki Appleton has been named as Jersey's flag bearer for the 2015 Island Games.

Appleton is set to appear in her 12th Games and has been an ever present in the squad since the 1991 event in Aland.

Jersey did not send a volleyball team to Bermuda two years ago.

There were four nominations for the role but the Island Games Association of Jersey team managers gave Appleton the nod.

She will carry the Jersey flag in the parade of competitors at the opening ceremony on Saturday, 27 June at Howard Davis Park.

Tickets for the ceremony sold out in just 14 minutes on Thursday.
