Saturday was Independence Day in the United States

It would be easy to see why you might think Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan might have started up a New Romantic band but sadly, that's not the case. Saturday was Independence Day in the United States and Guzan, 30, celebrated with some of his USA team-mates and posted the photo above on his Instagram page.

Real Madrid and Wales forward Gareth Bale has really got into the swing of things on the golf course based on this evidence.

While 30-year-old forward Lukas Podolski was celebrating his transfer to Galatasaray with a cup of Turkish tea, the German's former Arsenal team-mate Aaron Ramsey was wishing him well. "Good luck @Podolski10 at your new club!" the 24-year-old midfielder wrote on Twitter. "Will be missed around the place, take it easy."

Bayern Munich's 23-year-old midfielder Mario Gotze said he was "honoured to throw the first pitch" at a recent Los Angles Dodgers game, but it did not go brilliantly for him. (ESPN)
