Guernsey Post continue to dominate relay

De Garis was put under pressure before finishing 10 seconds clear

Guernsey Post won a sixth consecutive inter-firm town relay race in a time of 20 minutes 49 seconds.

Twenty-six teams of four took part in the run with each member completing the one-mile course.

Guernsey Post were chased home, but sub-five minute miles from Sam Dowding and James De Garis saw the team home with a 10 second margin.

Butterfield Bolts came in second, while fastest woman Sarah Mercier brought the mixed team KPMG A home third.

The Island Games competitor finished in five minutes 17 seconds, while the Bolts' Ben Wilen was the fastest male runner in a time of four minutes 51 seconds.

De Garis said: "We're obviously really pleased, I think we've just got a good team really, everyone's quite fit.

"It's just a good thing to do, the competitive nature really takes over and now we've got a record of winning it we'd like to keep it going."

Pete Guilbert and Clint King were the other runners in the Guernsey Post team.
