BOA to lose by-law case - lawyer
- From the section Athletics
The lawyer who helped US sprinter LaShawn Merritt beat an IOC ban from competing at the Olympics believes the British Olympic Association (BOA) will fail in its attempt to retain the lifetime ban on drug cheats from the GB Olympic team.
Lawyer Howard Jacobs believes the BOA's position is unenforceable, stating the overturning of the rule in Merritt's case should give hope to Dwain Chambers' chances of appearing at London 2012.
Merritt, the reigning world 400m champion, was given a two-year suspension in 2010 later reduced to 21 months, after testing positive for testosterone three times between October 2009 and January 2010.
