BBC Sport - Jenny Meadows: Doping scandal could kill athletics

Dopers could kill athletics - Meadows

British athlete Jenny Meadows believes doping is widespread within athletics and that uncovering evidence of a major scandal could "kill" the sport.

IAAF president Lamine Diack has told BBC sports editor Dan Roan that athletics faces a "crisis" in the wake of recent allegations, aired in a German TV documentary, that 99% of Russian athletes are guilty of doping, but remains convinced the majority of athletes are racing clean.

Meadows says she wants to promote the message that clean athletes can win races, but believes the world governing body may have to "destroy the image of the sport" in order to re-build its reputation.
