Tiffany Porter won the 100m hurdles in difficult weather conditions at the Great City Games in Newcastle.

The 2014 European champion, who came fifth in Beijing in the recent World Championships, won in 12.77 seconds on a wet and blustery day on Tyneside.

Meanwhile, Britain's Jonnie Peacock pipped American rival Richard Browne to claim the T44 100m.

Dutch 200m world champion Dafne Schippers took the 100m, while Asbel Kiprop of Kenya claimed the men's mile.

Kiprop, who took the 1,500m world title in Beijing in August, moved past Tom Lancashire in the latter stages to beat the Briton into third place.

Peacock and Porter were among several athletes competing on Tyneside less than 24 hours after appearing in the final event of this season's Diamond League in Brussels.

Porter, 27, finished ahead of the USA's Jasmin Stowers, with Germany's Cindy Roleder - who claimed silver ahead of Porter in Beijing - in third place.

Among other British competitors, 60m world champion Richard Kilty was second in the 150m, while Chijindu Ujah finished second in the 100m.
