Paddy Barnes hopes to complete his set of major championship medals at this month's World Championships in Kazakhstan.

Paddy Barnes has become the second member of Ireland's World Championship team to move up in weight.

Michael Conlan moved up from flyweight to bantamweight earlier this week to fill the gap left by John Joe Nevin's withdrawal from the Irish team.

The Irish management have now opted to switch Olympic bronze medallist Barnes from his regular light-flyweight (49 kilos) division to flyweight (52kg).

Barnes has won major medals in every major championship bar the worlds.

All his previous Olympic, European and Commonwealth medals came in the light-fly division although Barnes has fought at flyweight previously.

The World Championships begin in Kazakhstan on Monday.

Olympic silver medallist Nevin is expected to turn professional following his decision to pull out of the World Championships.
