Carl Frampton v Leo Santa Cruz WBA Featherweight World Title Fight

BBC NI viewers will have the chance to relive all the excitement of Carl Frampton's world title win over Leo Santa Cruz at 22:45 BST on Thursday 1 September on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer.

Frampton made history by becoming the first Northern Ireland fighter to win a world title in two different weight divisions when he secured the WBA title in New York on 30 July.

Thomas Kane introduces coverage of all 12 rounds of the fight, which saw Frampton take the title from previously unbeaten Leo Santa Cruz from Mexico.

The Belfast boxer set his sights on the title by moving up a division to featherweight after uniting the IBF and WBA super-bantamweight with a victory over Scott Quigg in February.

The programme will give fans an opportunity to see the full action from the fight and highlights BBC Sport NI's commitment to bringing audiences the best of local sport.

Jane Tohill, Executive Producer BBC Sport NI said: "It's been described by many experts as the fight of the year, and one which has firmly established Carl Frampton's reputation as world class in the US. We're delighted to be able to bring fight fans full coverage of all 12 explosive rounds on BBC NI."
