Leading British sprint canoeist Rachel Cawthorn has been described as a 'ball of fire' on the water - but she spends her free time immersed in knitting and Harry Potter books.
BBC South Today's Tony Husband met Rachel at the Eton Dorney lake, which will host sprint canoeing and rowing at London 2012, then travelled with her to the kayak club in Guildford where she first learned to paddle.
Watch South Olympic Dreams to hear more stories from Olympic hopefuls in the build-up to London 2012, including windsurfer Nick Dempsey and 1500m runner Hannah England. South Olympic Dreams is on air from 1700 GMT on Sunday, 22 January, on BBC One in the South region.
